A Halal & Vegan Ramen Spot Run by a Muslim Owner—The Best of Both Worlds!

🍜 Introduction
In December 2024, a new halal ramen shop opened in Asakusa, and the owner kindly reached out to me with a message saying, “I’d love for you to come!”
It definitely caught my attention, so I decided to pay them a visit.
The owner told me, “We just opened and not many people know about us yet, so I’d be really happy if you could introduce the shop.”
Just to be clear—I paid full price for my meal, so this isn’t a sponsored post.As always, I’ll give you my honest review! ✨

The shop is about a 10-minute walk from Asakusa Station. It’s a little ways from the station, but right behind the shop flows the Sumida River, and you get a great view of the Tokyo Skytree. It’s actually a nice walk—perfect for a bit of sightseeing on the way!
Look out for the red awning and noren curtain at the entrance. The name of the shop, “Dattebayo!”, is the catchphrase of the main character from Naruto, a ninja anime that’s super popular in Japan.Maybe the owner is a big Naruto fan? I forgot to ask... 😅
Inside, there’s an L-shaped counter for seating. There don’t seem to be any tables, so it’s probably best for solo diners or groups of up to 4 people max.
Oh—and yes, there’s a prayer room inside the shop, too! 🕌
⭐️ Overall Score: 6.4 / 10
The ramen was... honestly, just okay.It wasn’t bad at all—but it wasn’t something I’d call outstanding either.
That said, if you’re in the Asakusa area and happen to be nearby, it’s worth stopping by for a quick halal meal. And the owner? Super kind and welcoming. That alone made the visit feel warm. 😊

🍜 Food | 2.5 / 5 | The soup and noodles were pleasant and tasty, though nothing too surprising. What stood out was the generous toppings—karaage, boiled egg, chicken chashu—lots of variety and volume! The chicken chashu was a bit on the tough side, though. |
🙋♀️ Service | 4.0 / 5 | The owner, a friendly and kind-hearted Muslim from Bangladesh, was lovely to talk to. He happily shared stories and explained things about the shop—so welcoming! |
🏠 Atmosphere | 3.0 / 5 | Since the place is still quite new, the interior was clean and tidy. That said, seating is on simple stools without backrests, so it’s not the kind of spot where you’d settle in for a long, relaxing meal. |
🥢 Halal Ramen I had
Spicy Fried Chicken Ramen – ¥1,700
Homemade Fried Gyoza with spicy sauce – ¥750
This shop serves ramen with a focus on both halal and vegan options.I went with the halal ramen, which came in a spicy broth with standard medium-thick noodles. The taste? Nothing particularly unique, but solid and enjoyable—an easy, no-surprises kind of ramen.
The toppings were generous: as you can see, there was a soft-boiled egg, two pieces of karaage, and four slices of chicken chashu. The karaage was big and satisfying, but the chicken chashu was a little tough—maybe because it was a lean cut?
A bit more tenderness would’ve made it perfect.
The gyoza was fried style, with a crispy skin and juicy filling of meat and vegetables inside. It had great flavor and texture—definitely a highlight.
By the end of the meal, I was really full!

🕌 Muslim-Friendly Score: 3 / 5

✅ Halal Certification | 2 / 3 |
🕌 Prayer Space | 1 / 1 |
💧 Wudu Facility | 0 / 1 |
I didn’t see any halal certification displayed at the restaurant, but since the owner himself is Muslim, it’s safe to assume that only halal ingredients are used.Naturally, no alcohol is served either.
Even without official certification, I personally felt comfortable dining here and believe it’s a place Muslim guests can enjoy with peace of mind.
For the Halal Certification Score, I gave it a 2 out of 5 simply because there’s no formal certification displayed. That said, they do have a prayer room available, which is always a big plus!

👤 A great spot to drop by while exploring Asakusa.
Not only is it Muslim-friendly, but they also serve vegan ramen, making it a nice choice for vegan diners too.
And if you're a Naruto fan... well, you might want to check it out just for the name! 😄
