💬 ai-chan’s Note

"In the middle of a quiet neighborhood, I stumbled upon this halal ramen spot... and wow, it was seriously legit!"

👤 Recommended for Travelers:

One of Japan’s top halal ramen brands! Rich chicken paitan ramen that’s full of flavor. Perfect whether you're solo or with a group. Fully halal-certified, with a prayer room on-site!

🍜 Introduction

Halal ramen shops have been popping up more and more in Japan lately, but Ayam-ya is actually one of the pioneers. The story goes: the original owners were running regular ramen shops when an Indonesian Muslim student asked, "Do you only use chicken? No pork, right?"That question led them to develop true halal ramen! Now, they have multiple locations in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto — and the one I visited this time was their Shin-Okachimachi branch.

Their ramen is fully "ALL HALAL" and their signature rich chicken paitan broth is a must-try!

The closest stations are Inaricho or Shin-Okachimachi.It's a bit of a walk — about 10 minutes — through a residential and factory area, so I started getting a little nervous along the way.But when I finally spotted the shop, it was buzzing with Muslim customers and totally stood out in the quiet neighborhood! My expectations instantly shot up. 💕

The shop even has a prayer room and a Wudu (ablution) area!It was super busy when I visited, so I couldn't check them out myself (sorry!) — but based on online info, they're definitely available.I'll make sure to check next time!

⭐️ Overall Score: 7.4 / 10

This place nails halal-friendly dining — super安心 (safe) for Muslim travelers!

They even have a prayer room, which is a huge plus.

The spicy, rich chicken broth was really delicious, but what really impressed me was the chewy noodles — honestly better than most other halal ramen shops I’ve tried.

Only downside: getting there is a bit of a hike!

🍜 Food

4.0 / 5

The Spicy Shoyu Chicken Soba wasn’t just spicy — it was packed with deep chicken flavor! The chopped onions added a nice crunch. Only wish there were more slices of chicken ham... I wanted more!

🙋‍♀️ Service

3.0 / 5

It looked like the staff were mostly Muslim, which felt super welcoming. You order via a ticket machine, but if you get confused, the staff are really kind and help explain everything.

🏠 Atmosphere

3.0 / 5

Inside, it’s kind of casual and lively — a bit like a Japanese izakaya (pub) vibe. There are counter seats and tables, so it’s good for solo diners or groups. Getting there might feel a bit out of the way, but after a big bowl of ramen, the walk back feels just right 😂.

🥢 What I Ordered

I had the Spicy Chicken Shoyu Soba (lunch price: ¥1,280).

The broth was spicy with lots of layered flavors — underneath the kick of spice, you could really taste the rich chicken paitan.

It’s not just spicy for the sake of it — the depth of flavor makes it feel very Japanese, in the best way!

The noodles were slightly wide and super chewy — almost like linguine pasta. To be honest, good noodles are pretty rare at halal ramen spots, so this was a huge win for me! The chicken ham was tender and yummy too — just wish there were more slices!
