A typical halal ramen shop located near a mosque—nothing really stood out, for better or worse. Just your standard bowl of halal ramen.
Ueno Ramen Halal

🍜 Introduction

I remember this day clearly—I had planned to eat at a halal restaurant in Asakusa, but when I got there, it was completely full. So I wandered around a bit, a little disappointed… until Google Maps showed me this ramen shop nearby.

A quick search told me it was a halal-certified place. And since I was already hungry, I didn’t hesitate—I headed straight there.Right in front of the shop, there was a flag with a halal mark, which made it easy to spot.

I bought a ticket from the vending machine and waited for my ramen.Inside, there were a few tables that could seat 2 to 4 people. Cozy and simple.

⭐️ Overall Score: 4.7 / 10

The restaurant is certified by the Japan Halal Foundation, so it’s 100% halal—definitely a安心 (peace of mind) point for Muslim diners. The staff also appeared to be Muslim, which added an extra layer of comfort.

That said, the ramen itself was... well, just okay. Not bad at all—but not particularly memorable either. It’s the kind of halal ramen you see pretty often in Japan, and I didn’t feel any unique character in the flavors or style.

The interior was a bit plain, with no background music and minimal decor. To be honest, it didn’t feel like a place you go out of your way to visit. But if you live nearby and want a quick, reliable halal meal—it absolutely serves its purpose.

🍜 Food

2.5 / 5

The ramen was very standard—just like many other halal ramen spots you’ll find in Japan.

That said, there wasn’t anything particularly bad about it either, so it’s the kind of place you can eat at casually, without high expectations or pressure.

🙋‍♀️ Service

2.0 / 5

The shop is run by Muslim staff.

There wasn’t any over-the-top service; interaction was minimal and to the point.

🏠 Atmosphere

2.0 / 5

The interior was quite bare—no background music, no real decorations.

It’s simply a space to eat, and that’s about it.

🥢 Halal Ramen I had

I ordered the Spicy Chicken Ramen (¥1,800).

It came with a spicy broth and a piece of karaage (fried chicken) on top—a style I’ve seen quite often at other halal ramen shops. The taste? Honestly, just as expected. Nothing amazing, nothing disappointing—very average and exactly how it looked.

That said, I was happy to see a generous amount of crunchy bean sprouts, komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), and green onions.

It felt healthy but still filling, which was a nice balance!

The fried chicken had a thin coating—very standard. The noodles were also your typical medium-thick style.Compared to more luxurious ramen at other places (like those topped with wagyu), the price isn’t high, so I’d say it feels just about right.

Most of the customers seemed to be Muslim, though I did spot a few Japanese diners too.Judging by the vibe, the Muslim guests didn’t seem like tourists—they felt more like locals from the neighborhood.

And honestly, if I lived nearby, I’d be happy to have a place like this close to home.

The halal support here is excellent. All ingredients are halal, and the restaurant is run by Muslim staff—so you can feel totally安心 (at ease).

I couldn’t find a prayer room on-site, but no worries—Okachimachi Masjid is just a 1-minute walk away. That makes things super convenient for Muslim diners!
